Session 13 - Read & Write Gold
This week, Rocky Wilson, IT Integration Specialist for Palliser
Regional Schools, will look at using the new assistive software – Read & Write Gold.
This is truly a very powerful program that is starting to take hold in many
school jurisdictions. To properly demonstrate all of the capabilities of
this program would require ‘many’ hours. During the webinar, Rocky
will showcase “some” of the features which will include – the RWG menu bar,
using RWG to have information read to a student and the many options available
here; speak and spell as you type; word prediction as you type; and the
research tools to help students to create their assignments. Pending
time, other potential features to be shared include homophones, audible
dictionary, and the calculator capability.
There will be only ONE session at 3:45 this week (the session will go 30 minutes), through Bridgit. Please test your connection in advance. In Internet Explorer, type in: http://neptune.pallisersd.ab.ca:81, or alternately (especially for some districts outside of Palliser’s' Network), http://199.216.196.244:81 | |

new Animation feature in Smart Notebook 10.
This enables teachers to use features such as Fade In, Fade Out, Flip and
Rotate within their Smart Lessons, much like a Powerpoint presentation.
There will be only ONE session at 3:45 this week, through
Bridgit. Please test your connection in advance. In Internet
Explorer, type in http://neptune.pallisersd.ab.ca:81,

Session 11 - SMARTboards in Division One Classrooms
Hosted by
Pat Hrynczuk and Amy Kerr (Jennie Emery Elementary School – Coaldale) from the
Palliser Regional School Division. Pat and Amy will be show casing how
they have integrated the Smartboard technology into their classrooms.
Connection to this
session will be through Video Conference AND
Bridgit. To VC, please dial the meeting room at 2008@199.216.149.3 . For
the Bridgit session, we will be using the 2Learn Bridgit. To access the Bridgit, go to http://www.2learn.ca:8080 . Once installed and running, you will have to type in the word ‘program’
to access the Bridgit session (which we will call "Div One Presentation"). Should you have trouble connecting with the
Bridgit software, accommodations can be made to see past this issue. (We will
use the rear camera to display the image on the Smartboard)
There will be ‘one’
session which will occur Thursday May 14th at 3:30pm. Session will last
about 30 minutes. A few minutes at the end have been left for questions.
For those of you who are
using a PVX setup, it’s a lot for a computer to run both the VC (Polycom) software and Bridgit at the same
time. The recommendation is that you run
the two programs on different computer to cut down on the processing demands.
